Koncho Amber

Koncho Amber

Georgia has been making amber wine for 8,000 years. The classic Georgian amber is bold and uncompromising. Tannic, assertive, complex. It asks something of you.

Koncho Amber asks the same question more gently.

The Koncho collection is Koncho and Co's premium blend series. Where most Georgian wine is built around a single grape, these wines bring rare varieties together. Koncho Amber is built from five. Rkatsiteli, Kisi, Khikhvi, Mtsvane Kakhuri, Mtsvivani Kakhuri. Each one grown in Kakheti. Each one rare enough that most American wine drinkers have never encountered a single one of them. Together they make something that no single grape could produce alone.

Six months in qvevri buried underground. Wild yeast. No additives. 14.5% alcohol. And yet the wine does not feel heavy. It feels warm. Enveloping. The tannins are there but they have been softened by the blend, rounded by the combination of five varieties working together. Tea, tobacco, dried figs, white cherry. A long finish that stays with you.

If classical Georgian amber wines are the bold version, Koncho Amber is the rounded one. Still serious. Still complex. Just more generous about it.

For amber wine lovers ready to go deeper.
