Saperavi Qvevri Koncho&Co

Saperavi is Georgia's boldest red grape. Qvevri is Georgia's oldest winemaking vessel. When the two meet, the result is Saperavi at its most Georgian.

The grapes come from Koncho and Co's own vineyards — estate-grown, fully controlled from vine to bottle. The vines are 65 years old. In the world of wine, old vines are not a marketing claim — they are a fact of biology. Older vines grow deeper roots, produce fewer grapes, and put more of themselves into each cluster. 65 years is a genuinely great age. These vines have been making wine since before most of their drinkers were born.

The wine ferments in qvevri buried underground — the traditional Georgian clay vessel, wild yeast only, no intervention. Then 12 months in oak barrel. The qvevri gives it Georgian soul. The oak gives it structure and time.

What comes out is classic Saperavi — dark cherry, plum, a trace of oak, tannins that are firm but not aggressive. The taste of Georgia in its most traditional form.
